New Rector for Bala

Am y Gymraeg: Rheithor-newydd-y-Bala

A new Rector of Bala will be welcomed to her new ministry in the town by the Bishop of St Asaph, the Rt Revd Gregory Cameron on Sunday (14 October).

The Revd Dr Carol Roberts has lived in Gwynedd all her life.  Originally from Llanymawddwy, Carol moved with her family to Pentir, near Bangor, when she was three months old. She attended Llandegai VC Primary School, Ysgol Dyffryn Ogwen, Bethesda, and Bangor University.

In 2007 Carol was made deacon at Bangor Cathedral and was priested in 2008.  She served her curacy in the Rectorial Benefice of Bangor before moving in 2011 to be priest in charge of the parishes of Llanberis, Llanrug and Llandinorwig. Later, in 2015, Carol became Vicar and Ministry Area Leader of Bro Eryri, which added the communities of Penisa’rwaun and Llanddeinolen to her existing parishes.

Carol has been married to Dafydd for twenty-six years and in her spare time she enjoys walking the mountains, swimming in the sea with golden retriever Mollie, gardening, reading, and spending time with family and friends.

Carol said: “Dafydd and I are looking forward to making Bala our home and to getting to know people in this beautiful area.  I am looking forward to ministering amongst the people of Penedeyrn Mission Area and to working with the ministry team in the Mission Area to the glory of God and for the sake of God’s kingdom.”

Bishop Gregory Cameron said: “It is a pleasure to welcome this experienced priest from Bangor diocese. The people of Bala have waited patiently for their new Rector, and we look forward to great things.”

The service of welcome takes place on Sunday 14 October in Christ Church, Bala, at 1530hr.  All are welcome.
