New Vicar for Connah’s Quay

A new vicar has been announced for the communities of Connah’s Quay and Queensferry, in the Borderlands Mission Area.

The Revd Alexier Mayes, who is currently based in Kerry, near Newtown in Powys will be licenced in April at St Mark’s Church in Connah’s Quay.

Alex, who is from Timperley near Manchester, previously worked as a curate in the Bistre and Buckley areas of Borderlands Mission Area, before moving to the South of the Diocese of St Asaph.

Alex said: “2018 will be an exciting year for me, with the move to Connah’s Quay and I’m getting married.  Although I’ll be very sad to leave the people and the communities of Dolfor, Kerry, Mochdre and Llanmerewig, the time is right for a change. I look forward to starting my ministry with the people of Connah’s Quay and Queensferry.”

Alex, who is due to marry George Bearwood in St Asaph Cathedral in September, enjoys, music, TV and films.  In 2016, Alex and George featured on a BBC4 programme discussing their love of 80s music.

Alex’s service of licensing and welcome will take place on Sunday 15 April, at 3.30pm at St Mark’s Church, Connah’s Quay.  All are welcome.
