Two Archdeacons Sought

This job has closed. Other vacancies...

The Diocese of St Asaph in north east and central Wales is a family of over 7,000 disciples of Jesus gathered into 21 mission areas and 228 churches, served by a team of more than 80 full-time clergy and 547 licensed and commissioned lay ministers.

With the forthcoming retirement this Summer of the Venerable Peter Pike, Archdeacon of Montgomery, and the Venerable Bob Griffiths, Archdeacon of Wrexham, who serve as part of a team of three Archdeacons, we are looking to recruit two new archidiaconal colleagues.

The emphasis of our diocese is on mission and change in order to unlock our potential as disciples of Jesus Christ in proclaiming God’s Kingdom, and we are looking for Archdeacons who will mentor and lead our Mission Areas and their Shared Ministry Teams in response to God’s call to grow.  This is why we have defined these seven key attributes for candidates:

  • Christ centred Leaders
  • Visionaries
  • Encouragers
  • Church Builders
  • Team Players
  • Ground Breakers
  • Change Makers

If you would like to explore with us whether you are called to either of these ministries as Archdeacon, then a full application pack including diocesan and archidiaconal profiles is available from Diane McCarthy / 01745 532591.

The closing date for applications is 30 April 2018 and a discernment centre will be held on 16 and 17 May 2018.
