Discernment process for Ministry Training

If you think God may be calling you to some form of public ministry please talk to your local priest who will be able to support you and give you further guidance. If they think you are ready for the next step, they will then contact the diocesan office who will be able to put you in touch with a vocations adviser.

Here you will find all the information you need about the process for ministry training along with some suggested resources. The Public Ministry Flowchart explains the process more fully. The Criteria for Ordained Ministry explains the criteria discerners use to assess whether someone has a vocation to ordained ministry.

We are also actively seeking to encourage those with vocations to lay ministries to consider their call, particularly Reader ministry. This aspect of our life in the diocese is developing so please do check back for further information.

Diocesan Discernment Days

Periodically the Diocese hold special discernment days for those exploring the call to ordained and lay ministry.
