The Mission Area (Parish) as a Charity

All MAC’s are charities and are expected to comply with the requirements of charity law.

MAC’s with an income of under £100,000 per year are ‘excepted’ from registration under the Charities (Exception from Registration) Regulations 1996.  They do not have a Charity Registration number.

MAC’s with income of over £100,000 per year are required to register with the Charity Commission and will receive a Charity Registration number when their registration is completed.  The Diocesan Office will contact the MAC when registration is required.

All trustees (ie members of the MAC) must sign the Trustee Declaration.

The Charity Commission also provide guidance for trustees.  The Diocese also offers training for trustees under the Training Together programme.
